About My Company / Business

Role of the Psychopharmacologist:

I primarily identify myself as a psychopharmacologist. This term was born from the Ancient Greek root word psyche, meaning both mind and soul, and pharmakon, meaning drug. As a psychopharmacologist, I place an emphasis on the biological factors that contribute to mental health issues, including complex medication interactions, side effects of non-psychotropic medications, and disorders with a possible biological basis, such as anxiety, mood, psychotic, cognitive, eating, and substance abuse disorders. Specializing in the treatment of complex and treatment-resistant issues, I focus on both medication management and coordinating care with other specialized therapists and medical clinicians.

Striving to remain on the cutting edge of psychopharmacological research, I enjoy remaining active in the psychiatry community. I have given a number of seminars in past years, including “Update on Psychopharmacology: Trends Over the Past Two Years” and “Review of Psychopharmacology.” Maintaining an active and informative role in my immediate community, I have given a number of public lectures, such as “Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder and Its Treatments,” “Chronic Pain and Depression: Treatment Implications,” and “Antidepressants in the Primary Care Setting.”

A graduate of the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine, I completed my residency in the Department of Psychiatry at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. I previously served as a psychopharmacologist at a counseling center in Boston and have also worked at Carney Hospital and the Psychiatric Centers at San Diego. At Stanford University’s Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, I was an Adjunct Clinical Instructor, supervising medical residents. Several years ago, I had the honor of assisting the San Francisco 49ers as its designated psychopharmacologist. Currently, I maintain an office in Portola Valley, just south of San Francisco.
